Project Overview
This Lemont home presented a challenge most contractors shy away from — removing an existing stucco exterior down to the sheathing and rebuilding the entire building envelope from scratch. Before a single piece of siding went up, we replaced 15–20 sheets of rotten plywood to ensure a solid, dry substrate.
The homeowners wanted a warm, natural look with lasting durability. We delivered a James Hardie Arctic White panel system with Khaki Brown Rough Sawn trim throughout — a combination that gives the home a clean, textured contrast that holds up against Midwest weather for decades.
Before & After Transformation
Before: Crumbling stucco exterior hiding rotten plywood underneath, worn porch columns and ceiling with no architectural detail, outdated custom shutters and aging gutters throughout.
After: James Hardie Arctic White panel siding throughout, Khaki Brown Rough Sawn trim on all windows, doors, and corners, rebuilt porch columns wrapped in James Hardie Rough Sawn Khaki Brown, fresh porch ceiling in matching Rough Sawn Khaki Brown, two new sets of custom shutters, and a full gutter system replacement with guards.
Siding & Trim Installation
Removed existing stucco exterior down to the sheathing. Replaced 15–20 sheets of rotten plywood before installation. Installed James Hardie Arctic White panel siding throughout. Installed 6″ Khaki Brown Rough Sawn trim on all windows, doors, and corners. Added 8″ custom mounts in Khaki Brown for a finished, detail-forward look. Removed and replaced two sets of custom shutters. Painted existing brick trim sections to match the new exterior palette.
Moisture & Weather Protection
Flashed all windows and doors with butyl tape for long-term moisture protection. Installed metal flashing at all penetrations, corners, and transitions. Followed original architectural prints for siding layout to ensure proper drainage and alignment.
Ventilation & Structural Improvements
Installed aluminum soffit in Pebble Stone Clay — vented in eaves, solid in rakes. Replaced porch columns with new 4×4 posts wrapped in James Hardie Rough Sawn Khaki Brown trim. Refreshed porch ceiling in Rough Sawn Khaki Brown to match trim throughout. Installed AZEK trim on garage door, painted to match exterior trim. Replaced gable vents (Loki), matched to existing sizing.
Gutters & Finishing Details
Removed and replaced all gutters and downspouts. Installed 6″ Pebble Stone Clay seamless gutters. Installed 3×4 downspouts for high-volume drainage. Installed 6″ gutter guards throughout.
The Result
What started as a stucco tear-off became a full exterior rebuild — one that addressed hidden structural issues while delivering a warm, refined look the homeowners had envisioned. The Arctic White panels paired with Khaki Brown Rough Sawn trim give this Lemont home timeless curb appeal, while the attention to moisture protection and structural repair ensures it performs as well as it looks.
